This award is for NSS youth members who have not reached their 21st
birthday as of December of each year. The award is directed at youth who
do outstanding fraternal work in these four arenas:
- At their school or work
- In their community
- In their church
- In their assembly
Entry forms are available from the Home Office starting in September,
each year, and the deadline is January 31st in the following year.
The winner receives a $500.00 U. S. Savings Bond. Judging is done by
a fraternal director in another fraternal benefit society.

Kelsey Jancisin - Assembly 0434
Kelsey Jancisin is a member of Assembly 0434 in McMurray, Pennsylvania was chosen as the 2008 Youth Achievement winner. Kelsey has been a member of NSS in good standing since 1999, lives in the Pittsburgh area, and recently graduated from the Mt. Lebanon School District. She was on the Honor Roll throughout her entire high school years. In addition to attending high school, Kelsey has managed to attend Pittsburgh Beauty Academy at the same time and still excel in her studies. Kelsey has been accepted at both Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and High Point University in High Point, NC where she has been awarded an academic scholarship. Kelsey is a very gifted athlete, playing volleyball on both the high school team and traveling area team. She earned letters the past three years and her high school team was one of the best in the area, making the ECVB Championships her junior year and the WPIAL Championships her senior year. In addition to the team honors, Kelsey made the All-Conference Team. Kelsey also excelled at Mt. Lebanon on the track team and earned a varisty letter two years in a row. She also was recognized as a softball All Star and participated in the Recreational Basketball league in her area. Her volunteer work has been outstanding at the Mushroom Family Learning Center, Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils Club and St. Clair Hospital, which qualified her to attend the Diocese of Pittsburgh's Bishop's Medallion Ball which is a very prestigious event. In addition to her volunteer work, Kelsey has been a regular participant in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure which is held on Mother's Day, an active member in the St. Bernard's Church youth group, works at a pizza shop and is credited with the development of St. Bernard's Grade School Volleyball program. Kelsey is a tireless worker and has a problem saying no when asked to volunteer or lend a helping hand in fraternal and community projects. She is the daughter of Terri and David Jancisin and sister of Derrick, also a member of Assembly 0434. The NSS is proud to honor Kelsey as the NSS Youth Achievement winner of 2008.
